Marian Buda is one of Romania's most distinguished legal figures, with over three decades of experience at the highest levels of the judicial system.
As a judge and later President of the 2nd Civil Section of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, he played a central role in shaping Romania's judicial practice and unifying case law at national level.
As President of the Superior Council of Magistracy, he led the institutional reform process that contributed to the framework underlying the lifting of the EU's Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) for Romania.
He holds two PhDs in Law and brings to Buda Partners an unparalleled depth of judicial knowledge, strategic authority and institutional credibility - assets that are directly deployed in high-stakes litigation and complex dispute strategy.

Ștefan Ionuț Buda is a business lawyer, dealmaker and specialist in fund structuring - with a career built across three of the most demanding environments in Romanian legal and financial markets.
Trained at Clifford Chance Badea, where he worked on M&A, private equity and competition law for international clients, he went on to develop his practice at act Botezatu Estrade Partners - one of Romania's leading firms in energy and competition. He then spent four years as a Legal & Investment Professional and Capital Raising Manager within the Roca / Impetum Group private equity platform, gaining direct exposure to fund governance, institutional capital raising and cross-border transaction structuring.
His transaction track record includes: legal coordination of the AIFM selection process for Fondul Proprietatea (the most complex institutional governance mandate for a listed fund in Romania); structuring of a €15M+ cross-border private credit facility across Luxembourg, Liechtenstein and Romania; participation in a ~€20M capital raise for Roca Investments; and coordination of GP-LP investment vehicles and two leveraged buyouts within the Roca Industry platform.
At Buda Partners, the firm he co-founded, Ștefan leads the business law and transactions practice, combining legal precision, deal instinct and a network spanning private equity sponsors, institutional investors, energy groups and international management platforms.

Her professional interests are focused on business law, investment structures and the legal frameworks that underpin entrepreneurial activity - with a particular emphasis on understanding how legal decisions shape business outcomes.

His approach combines rigorous legal analysis with a clear focus on outcomes - from the initial strategy through enforcement.
His experience spans the full litigation lifecycle: from urgent proceedings and injunctive relief to appellate advocacy before the High Court of Cassation and Justice and commercial arbitration in institutional and ad-hoc proceedings.
